CPSU appalled and disgusted at ACTU move

THE CPSU is appalled that the ACTU will get rid of 20 employees.

Yesterday’s announcement saw five employees made immediately redundant and many more uncertain about their future. Some of the remaining redundancies are voluntary and expected to occur over the next few weeks. The compulsory job losses are within the Melbourne office.

According to Secretary Dave Oliver’s spokesperson the cuts are mostly to the ACTU’s Organising Centre, which provides education and training, as well as to the communications/campaigns area.

These cuts are said to be a result of Mr Oliver’s campaigning focus and after a review of the organisation.

The ACTU seems to have lost touch with the values it represents and promotes for the collective union movement. A sad day indeed!
