Tasmanian State Service Award variations
THE CPSU continually works with the government to fine tune Award entitlements to ensure they are relevant to current circumstances, and we’ve identified the following areas in the Tasmanian State Service Award (TSSA) that need particular attention:
This is for Members required to camp out overnight, and is often used by DPIPWE Members. This allowance lacks clarity and needs review to bring it up to a contemporary standard. The allowance isn’t being applied consistently and doesn’t accurately reflect the needs of Members who do this kind of work.
There’s an absence of detailed shift provisions, and some definitional issues need work. The CPSU believes there should be a clear set of rostering provisions in the Award to cover operational areas currently operating shift patterns without regulation through the Award.
Bass Strait Island Allowances
Bass Strait Island Allowances need updating to ensure consistent application across occupational groups. The recent change to a 4 term school year has implications for some Members.
Your union will progress these issues in coming weeks and will keep Members updated on any progress.
