Unions Tasmania Upcoming Events: April and May

FROM remembering those Tasmanians who died at work on International Workers’ Memorial Day to celebrating our union history on May Day – there are a number of upcoming Unions Tasmania events in April and May that you’re invited to. International Workers’ Memorial Day – Hobart

Where: Hobart, St David’s Cathedral

When: Thursday April 28 from 5pm

April 28 is International Workers’ Memorial Day – a day of remembrance for workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell through their work.

An ecumenical memorial service will be held at St David’s Cathedral, 23 Murray Street, Hobart.

Coffee and tea from 5pm. Service commences at 5.30pm

International Workers’ Memorial Day – Launceston

Where: Launceston, Workers’ Memorial Gardens, near Aurora Stadium

When: Thursday April 28 from 8am

April 28 is International Workers’ Memorial Day – a day of remembrance for workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell through their work.

The Launceston memorial service will be held at the Workers’ Memorial Gardens (near Aurora Stadium), commencing at 8am followed by a BBQ breakfast.

May Day Banner Parade & BBQ

Where: North Hobart, CFMEU & Republic Bar & Cafe

When: Sunday May 1, from 11.30am

Wear your union gear & bring your flags and banners.

11:30 am: assemble outside the CFMEU Vic-Tas, Corner Augusta Road & Wilson Street (intersection of New Town Road & Elizabeth Street) Hobart.

12 midday: parade starts (down Elizabeth Street towards Unions Tas).

Leave flags and banners at Unions Tasmania and walk down to the Republic Bar & Cafe.

12:45 pm onwards: BBQ at the Republic.
