Liberals announce funding for mental health

Tasmanian Liberals promise that they’ll spend $95m on mental health, if they are able to form a majority government. This promise includes a unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital for adolescent patients.

But in December last year plans for a new mental health unit were dumped after Minister Michael Ferguson failed to listen to health professionals that the facility wasn’t safe.

The plan also includes eight new beds in the Launceston General’s children’s ward.
