About your public sector union

The Community and Public Sector Union (State Public Services Federation Tasmania) Inc. is all about employees working in the Tasmanian State Service, in some State-owned companies and Government Business Enterprises, at the University of Tasmania and in joint authorities like the Tasmanian water authorities.

It is a union, a professional association and a lobbyist in support of the State and community sector in Tasmania and in support of staff at the University of Tasmania. We are democratic. Members elect the Council which runs their union and also elect the General Secretary and the Assistant Secretary.

The CPSU(SPSFT) Inc. maintains Awards, workplace agreements and contracts. It provides advocates, counsellors and trainers to support its members. It makes submissions to Governments and Parliamentary inquiries on matters affecting the public service. The CPSU(SPSFT) Inc. helps fund research and policy development on public matters and also runs scholarships to assist members and their families advance their education. The CPSU is recognised by a wide variety of State and Federal tribunals.

You will find our members in the bush, in offices, in laboratories, in hospitals, in schools, in the justice system, on boats.just about anywhere.

The CPSU(SPSFT) Inc. speaks out for the public sector in Tasmania and especially for the people who work in it.
