Speed camera operators to go
THE Department of Police and Emergency Management intends to wind-up the manned Speed Camera Operator Service. This will affect 11 employees, three who are CPSU Members in the North-West, which makes redeployment or alternate employment options difficult. Members tendered a submission setting out many reasons why this service is necessary but the agency still iplans to abolish manned speed cameras and reallocate duties to Police Officers and unmanned vehicles.
Duties for the affected employees finish on May 1, with those wishing to take a full voluntary redundancy entitled to do so with the full $20,000 incentive payment given. Those who don’t wish to accept will follow the normal MD25 process.
- Meetings are on today (Thurs Feb 16) for southern employees. North and north-west meetings are scheduled for Wed Feb 22.
