CPSU staff update
Just before the Easter break Kate Jackson began 12 months maternity leave as she’s excitedly expecting a new addition to her family.
A dedicated member of the CPSU team, Kate started work at the Hobart office in 2006, on what is now the Member Advice and Support Team (MAST) dealing with individual issues.
Kate was then involved in the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2008 – a highlight of her career so far at the CPSU. “It was so empowering to see members working together on such a big project and to work on something that was so successful and such a long time coming.”
In 2009 Kate worked on hundreds of translation reviews, moving Members from four different awards to the State Service Award or Health and Human Services Award and assigning new classifications, and she then ventured overseas for a year before coming back to the CPSU, and in recent months Kate has been busy working on a response to the State Government’s budget cuts.
Staff farewelled Kate in CPSU style on her last day with a baby shower and afternoon tea. “I’ll miss my wonderful colleagues and members but I’m very excited about this new chapter in my life,” Kate said.
CPSU staff will miss Kate too as she’s friendly, kind, informative, funny, helpful and a great role model who would be a fantastic, loving parent.
