DPEM told to stop dragging its feet
LATE last year the CPSU provided the Department of Police & Emergency Management and the Public Sector Management Office with a draft Appendix to the Tasmanian State Service Award which proposed terms and conditions of work for Radio Dispatch Operators.
This Appendix: incorporates the working conditions set out in the previous Radio Dispatch Operators Agreement 2005; attempts to align conditions with the Police Award; incorporates a new salary progression table to allow for further advancement; and proposes an increase in the shift loadings and casual loadings.
In December last year PSMO and DPEM offered to write a formal written response to this draft, but after many months of the CPSU pursuing both parties for a response, none was given.
On behalf of Members, the CPSU lodged an application at the Tasmanian Industrial Commission alleging that PSMO and DPEM had not been bargaining in good faith by obstructing negotiations, and asking for the Commission’s help in facilitating and progressing negotiations.
On Thursday May 17 the Commission supported our application and directed DPEM to provide a formal written response to the draft by early next week: May 21-25. Negotiations continue at the Commission on Thursday May 24.
