THE CPSU can now confirm the Teaching (Public Service) Award clause dealing with communicable diseases has been extended to include SEOs and other Admin staff. This clause previously only allowed teachers in schools who contract a communicable disease to receive leave with pay.

This extension to include SEOs and Admin staff comes after discussions with the Department of Education and is great news for Members in schools. A medical certificate must be provided to your employer and should specifically identify the disease or illness in order to claim this entitlement.

You can find out what is classified as a communicable disease on the Department’s intranet.
