Camp Allowance increased

THE ALLOWANCES for camping in the Tasmanian State Service Award are now updated to reflect CPI increases. This covers an employee required to camp overnight in a tent or similar accommodation to perform their duties. The allowance compensates for all special conditions such as carrying tents and equipment, travelling over rough terrain and for work performed in severe climatic conditions. This allowance is used mainly by Members in DPIPWE, who work in areas such as Parks and in the Fox Taskforce. It’s one of the jobs of the union to maintain the values of allowances in awards.

The changes for this allowance are:

  • An increase from rates $27.55 to $31.20 where a cook is provided
  • An increase from $33.85 to $38.35 where a cook is not provided
