Youth Justice Amendments Bill raises alarm bells

THE Youth Justice (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill, was tabled in the House of Assembly yesterday and it raises some alarm bells.

The Bill would mean a number of changes, including a greater focus on rehabilitation in the community.  While most of the changes seem logical and an improvement to the system a number of initial questions come to mind:

  • How will this change be funded?
  • Who will run these diversionary programs?
  • How do changes impact on workload?
