ABC Senate Inquiry Update

YESTERDAY the Senate Committee investigating the ABC’s commitment to  regional diversity released their report.

You can read the report here.

One of the five recommendations was that the ABC regularly consult with regional stakeholders in  the film and television industry.

The committee also said the ABC should also be required to publish regularly how much it spends on TV  production in the regions, the number of hours broadcast, the number of programs  produced and the number of independent production companies used.

CPSU National President Michael Tull said the recommendations were a victory  for the union and the wider community.

We are really heartened to see the Senate agree with much of what the  community and the staff at the ABC were telling us and we welcome these  recommendations wholeheartedly,” he said.
