Liberals elusive on State Service relocation plans
DO THE Tasmanian Liberals have a plan for regionalising the Tasmanian public service?
It’s hard to say with the Liberals telling the Examiner yesterday that it was actively considering the idea of relocating state servants to Launceston but wouldn’t elaborate on their plans any further.
This comes after the Launceston Chamber of Commerce suggested the relocation of government departments and business enterprises to boost jobs in the northern city.
In the article, Premier Lara Giddings was clear that there would be no relocation of state servants to Launceston.
The CPSU would like to know more about the Liberal party’s stance and if they do in fact have a plan, to find out what it actually is, so their intentions are clear to both Members and the public.
The Tasmanian community deserves to have equitable access the services regardless of where they live but jobs should not be relocated for political reasons or to reward the business community.
