Better off in a union

THE RECENT Essential Report shows that majority of respondents thought Australian workers be better off if unions were stronger.

Released this week the report showed that 43% thought workers would be better off. This was an increase of 4 percentage points since the September 2012 report

29% thought workers would be worse off, 12% thought it would make no difference and 14% said they didn’t know.

The majority of respondents, 56%, thought unions were important for Australian working people, an increase of four percentage points from the September 2012 report.

The report also asked respondents how likely it was that Tony Abbott and the Liberal Party would bring back industrial laws like WorkChoices, with 51% saying they thought it was likely.
