Mary Meets Mohammad

WATCH an insightful documentary film about the Pontville Detention Centre and help raise funds at the same time.

On June 2 film Mary meets Mohammad will be shown in Hobart. The documentary examines Tasmanian knitting club member Mary’s thoughts on the state’s first detention and those of Muslim Afghan Hazara asylum seeker Mohammad, a detainee inside the centre. The two connect through the gift of a knitted beanie.

There’ll be a Q&A with film maker Heather Kirkpatrick after the film screening. A beanie knitted by Mary will also be auctioned.

Money raised goes to EMILYs List Australia, a non-profit organisation with a nation-wide network of members, supporters and volunteers – both men and women – who together support the election of progressive women to state and federal parliaments.
