Unemployment rate up again in Tassie

Labour Force – July 2013

THE LATEST ABS jobs figures for Tasmanian are bad, lower than the June which saw the worst unemployment rate for the state in a decade. July saw the Tasmanian unemployment rate rise by 0.2%

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

In July the unemployment rate increased from 8.2% to 8.4% in trend terms.

PARTICIPATION RATE

The participation rate during this same period increased slightly from 60.4% to 6.5% in trend figures.

EMPLOYED TOTAL PERSONS

From June to July in trend terms the total number employed Tasmanians dropped by 300 from 230,800 to 230, 500.

EMPLOYED FULL TIME – TOTAL PERSONS

Trend figures show Tasmanians employed full time dropped from 145 300 to 145 100.

UNEMPLOYED – TOTAL PERSONS

The total number of unemployed persons in Tasmania increased from 20,500 to 21,100.

NATIONALLY

Australia wide, the unemployment rate remained steady for July at 5.7%.
