Add your name to roll back Unfair United Nations decision
THE United Nations have decided to unilaterally adopt a policy that rolls back hard-won negotiating rights for its staff representatives.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is derecognising the organisation’s staff unions, which represent 65,000 workers. This means he will no longer negotiate with unions over issues like safety and security, welfare and conditions of service. The people who work for the UN often risk their lives to do so., with 555 staff attacked and 200 killed in the last decade. They often work in dangerous and hostile locations. The UN Staff unions are calling for support to demand that Ban Ki-moon respect labour rights at the UN.
