Employee Assistance Programs – there to use
HELP is available if you need it. Most workers can access counselling and support through Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) where the employer pay for a number of sessions. This can be for work or personal issues and many programs offer help to family members too. EAPs are confidential, and the employer is only told how many accessed the program and the breakup of work and personal issues. These anonymous statistics can help employers identify problems in a workplace, for example if a lot of employees are accessing the program about bullying.
More information about EAPs should be on your intranet.
The CPSU encourages Members to access this support, if needed, to deal with a situation at work or at home. It’s there to be used. Make sure you tell your colleagues about the services they can access through the EAP.
