Labour Force September 2013
TASMANIA’S unemployment rate remained at 8.5% for September according to ABS figures released today. Although there was no increase, looking at the rest of the country, the unemployment rate for our state is still very high. Also, the number of unemployed people increased, the number of full time workers dropped, as did the number of people employed and the participation rate.
Below are the detailed statistics in trend terms for Labour Force September 2013.
From August to September the unemployment rate remained at 8.5%.
The participation rate during this same period dropped from 60.3-60.2%.
EMPLOYED TOTAL PERSONS
From August to September the total number of employed persons dropped from 229,500 to 229, 300.
EMPLOYED FULL TIME – TOTAL PERSONS
The number of Tasmanians employed full time dropped from 144,400 to 144,200 from August to September.
UNEMPLOYED – TOTAL PERSONS
During the same period the total number of unemployed persons in Tasmania increased from 21,200 to 21,300.
Australia wide, the unemployment rate is at 5.7% in trend terms.
