Labour Force October 2013

THE Australian Bureau of Statistics monthly jobs figures were released today, showing a slight rise in the state’s unemployment rate in October. The numbers also show the participation rate, employed persons and full time persons fell during this period. Read the details below.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE
From September to October the unemployment rate dropped from 8.3-8.2%.
PARTICIPATION RATE
The participation rate during this same period also decreased from 60.1-60%.
EMPLOYED TOTAL PERSONS
From September to October the total number of employed persons dropped from 229, 400 to 229,100.
EMPLOYED FULL TIME – TOTAL PERSONS
The number of Tasmanians employed full time fell from 144,100 to 143, 800 from September to October
UNEMPLOYED – TOTAL PERSONS
During the same period the total number of unemployed persons in Tasmania dropped from 20,600 to 20,500.
POPULATION
During this time the release shows the civil population in Tasmania dropped from 416,200 to 415,900.
NATIONALLY
Australia wide, the unemployment rate was 5.8%, compared to 5.7% in trend terms the previous month.
