February job figures good news for Tassie

FEBRUARY’s Labour Force report gave some positive employment news for our state.

Read the highlights from the ABS monthly report below.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

From January to February the unemployment rate dropped marginally from 7.5 to 7.4%.

PARTICIPATION RATE

The participation rate during this same period increased slightly to 59.8 to 59.9%

EMPLOYED TOTAL PERSONS

From January to February the total number of employed persons increased from 231, 700 to 232,400.

EMPLOYED FULL TIME – TOTAL PERSONS

The number of Tasmanians employed full time rose during this time from 149,100 to 149,700.

UNEMPLOYED – TOTAL PERSONS

During the same period the total number of unemployed persons in Tasmania fell from 18,800 to 18,500.

POPULATION

During this time the release also shows the civil population in Tasmania increased from 418,700 to 418,800.

NATIONALLY

Australia wide, the unemployment rate remained at 6%.
