Sign the petition: Save Mitchell Library
A LIBRARY with no books? That’s exactly what’s set to happen in New South Wales thanks to cuts from the O’Farrell government.
Your CPSU encourages you to get behind your colleagues in Sydney, where dramatic changes are planned for the Mitchell Library.
Called a ‘revitalisation’, the changes mean there’ll no longer be a service desk, librarians or card catalogues. There’s been no public consultation yet the library is set to become a public space with Wi-Fi and no books, and there are concerns about what this will mean for other libraries in New South Wales.
The petition has received strong support from around Australia and even internationally, with almost 900 signatures so far.
