All the latest news and views from the CPSU team
FORMAL commencement of bargaining for CPSU Members in TasWater has begun. CPSU Assistant Secretary Mat Johnston and Organiser Ruby Thomas-Thompson have worked with our fantastic Delegates and Members to develop a log of claims seeking to combine beneficial provisions from four current enterprise agreements covering our Members into a single instrument for the merged corporation. This negotiation falls into the jurisdiction of the Fair Work Commission and involves six other union parties and a handful of employee bargaining reps. We hope this is the start of steady progress toward an agreement giving decent and consistent wages and conditions to TasWater Members.
Your CPSU is also meeting with Forestry Tasmania to discuss renegotiation of an agreement for our Members. Mat Johnston will work with Organiser Nick Duncombe and Delegates to commence formal negotiations. Big challenges face CPSU Members in FT but we’ll work with them to get a good outcome on wages and conditions despite the uncertainty of their sector. This agreement also falls under the jurisdiction of the Fair Work Commission.
Finally in bargaining news this week, your CPSU is holding preliminary discussions with employer representatives from central government and Parks. The government was handed a log of claims seeking to start renegotiation of the Parks Agreement late last year, so we’ll push for a rapid process that delivers good outcomes for our Parks Members. Mat and Nick will work with Delegates and Members in coming months. This agreement falls within the jurisdiction of the Tasmanian Industrial Commission.
