Premier needs to call on Lib Senators to oppose Federal Budget
WITH the Federal Budget a colossal hit on families and working people it’s great our Premier now has a similar view to the CPSU on the devastation it would cause. According to reports our health system alone faces a $27 million shortfall next financial year under the budget. In parliament this week Treasurer Peter Gutwein confirmed the Federal Budget would cut over $2.1 billion from Tasmania over the next 10 years, acknowledging the cuts would have a significant impact on the state.
Last week Mr Hodgman told the media: “When the budget was released we described it as the good, the bad and the ugly, it’s getting uglier by the day. What we are seeing is something that is untenable, that is unsustainable and I will not allow the rope to be pulled out from underneath us.”
The Federal Budget is clearly not in the best interests of Tasmania and should therefore be opposed in the Senate by Tasmania’s 12 representatives. The CPSU urges Mr Hodgman to encourage Liberal Senators to also oppose it.
