DoJ Update: email from Secretary

Dear Colleagues

As recently foreshadowed, the Department is now calling for Expressions of Interest for Targeted and Negotiated Voluntary Redundancies. Expressions of Interest are also sought for Workforce Renewal Incentive Payments. It is possible to express an interest in both.

Please note that expressing an interest in these arrangements is not binding on either employees or the Department and each application will be considered on its merits.

The expression of interest for a Targeted or Negotiated Voluntary Redundancy is open to all permanent employees of the Agency with the exception of Correctional Officers, Correctional Supervisors and Probation Officers. To be eligible for a TNVR it is a requirement that the position be abolished, and the roles of Correctional Officers, Correctional Supervisors and Probation Officers remain essential at their current levels.

The requirement to abolish an employee’s position does not apply to Workforce Renewal Incentive Payments and consequently all permanent employees, including Correctional Officers, Correctional Supervisors and Probation Officers may be considered for those separation arrangements. There will still need to be demonstrated benefits for Workforce Renewal Incentive Payments to apply.

The expression of interest period commences today and closes at 5:00pm on 3 October 2014. It is important that any staff expressing their interest in these arrangements discuss it with their manager and seek professional financial advice.

Further details on Targeted and Negotiated Voluntary Redundancies, Workforce Renewal Incentive Payments and the expression of interest process, are available at the Department’s Budget 2014 webpage.
