Labour Force August 2014
From July to August the unemployment rate lowered slightly from 7.4 – 7.3%.
For the same period the participation rate increased slightly from 61.1 – 61.2%
EMPLOYED TOTAL PERSONS
From July to August the total number of people employed increased from 237,500 to 238,100.
EMPLOYED FULL TIME – TOTAL PERSONS
During this time the number of Tasmanians employed full time dropped from 151,800 to 151,300
UNEMPLOYED – TOTAL PERSONS
For the same period the total number of people who were unemployed remained steady at 18,800.
From July to August the state’s population rose from 419,500 to 419,600.
Nationally the unemployment rate dropped to 6.1%, down 0.3 percentage points.
