Media release: Jobs, Health and Education to be slashed to pay for Will Hodgman’s pork barrelling
THE Hodgman Government’s massive cuts to essential frontline services are a direct result of their profligate pork barreling and not due to their failure to negotiate a wage freeze.
Before the election Will Hodgman said:
“…we won’t sack nurses, teachers or police. We’ll prioritise essential frontline services over other, less essential areas of Government” (The Liberals’ Future Directions – 3)
“They made an iron clad commitment that no more than 500 jobs would be cut. They promised no changes to the Industrial Relations system, they promised to honour all workplace agreements and they promised to invest in frontline services. They have broken these promises in order to pay for their election pork barreling,” CPSU General Secretary Tom Lynch said.
