Australian Public Sector Update
WITHIN days more than half of the 159,000 Federal public servants are likely to be in official dispute with their employer and taking part in industrial action with enterprise bargaining negotiations at a standstill.
The Federal Government is looking to remove their working conditions and entitlements while offering minimal salary increases, and CPSU National Secretary Nadine Flood said the government’s bargaining policy was unworkable and producing deals that left workers worse off.
This week Defence employees are applying to take industrial action, in addition to:
• Agriculture staff to vote on industrial action later this month
• Australian Institute of Criminology staff to vote on industrial action later this month
• DHS and Veterans’ Affairs continuing with industrial action
• CSIRO, Tax and Employment all applying for ballots to take protected action
