Fewer employed, looking for work

THERE are fewer people looking for work and employed in our state.

The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics figures reveal that while the unemployment rate was slightly down from January to February (0.1% 6.6% to 6.5%), the participation rate was also down 61.3% to 61.2%. This means fewer Tasmanians are now looking for work.

During the same period the total number of people employed also dropped slightly from 241, 100 to 241,000.

Looking nationally, our unemployment rate was down from 6.4% to 6.3% from January to February 2014.
