No more school cuts

No more school cuts

RECENTLY Education Minister   Jeremy Rockliff confirmed he’ll continue to make the targeted cuts of 266 FTE   staff in schools.

Now, the government has flagged a further $38 million cuts to Education in   the May budget.

Our schools can’t take any more cuts to much needed staff, like Teacher   Assistants, School IT workers, and School Business Managers.

Your CPSU and the AEU are encouraging Members   to take action next week to call for no more cuts to schools. Time is short   as the Premier is finalising the budget now and there’s only a week to   convince him not to slash school staff any further.

We’re looking for   Members to make some noise at school gates across Tasmania.

You can get   involved in the following ways:

Petition for no more cuts
Find the online   petition here – please encourage your colleagues   to sign it too.

Flier handout to parents
Next Tuesday (March   31) unions are handing out fliers to parents at school gates at the school   pick up zone. To say you’ll help hand out this information click here.

Social media action
Take a photo of   yourself and your colleagues holding a no more cuts poster beside your   school.

Find the poster here: no more cuts to schools – generic

text your   photos to 0408 252 484 – we’ll share on our social media pages and they’ll be   used in a montage to the premier, along with photos from your AEU colleagues.   Feel free to share on your own social media profiles, just add the hashtag #NoMoreSchoolCuts to   your photos.

The more Members at schools who get involved –   the louder our voice. So join your CPSU and AEU colleagues and take a stand   against cuts to your school.

We know time is short   but the action is crucial to send a message to your government that cuts hurt   schools!
