Event: International Workers’ Memorial Day
INTERNATIONAL Workers’ Memorial Day takes place annually worldwide on April 28. It’s a day of remembrance for workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell through their work.
In 2014/15, we’ve seen 11 work related deaths in Tasmania.
This year there will be an ecumenical service held on Tuesday April 28 at St David’s Cathedral, 23 Murray Street, Hobart.
Refreshments are available from 5pm and the service starts at 5.30pm.
Workers’ Memorial Day was started by the Canadian Union of Public Employees in 1984. April 28 is recognised by the International Labour Organisation and the International Trade Union Confederation as International Workers’ Memorial Day.
Everyone is welcome to join the service next week.
