Queensland election: treatment of public sector workers reason for no re-election
THERE are similarities between the ousted Queensland government and the current Tasmanian government in how they both made cuts to public services and jobs and in the shabby way they treated their workforces. A review of the Queensland election shows that some of the reasons the Campbell Newman government failed to be re-elected include:
• The breaking of the promise that public servants had ‘nothing to fear’
• The perception of arrogance arising from not listening to the people
• The alienation of key stakeholders in the decision making process
