Health reform but not enough resources
THE TASMANIAN Health Service officially starts today, after the government’s release of its White Paper plan for our health services earlier this week. Find the white paper here.
Questions remain about how the health reform will be funded, with the recent State Budget showing massive cuts to frontline health of at least $29.1 million in 2015-16, which then increase to $33 million by 2017-18. Your CPSU will continue to talk with THO management about our concerns around inadequate funding and the impact on staff and services.
So far the government has spent more than $42,000 to promote its plan on TV. Is this really appropriate given recent and upcoming cuts to health services and in light of unions’ concerns about having enough staff and resources to meet public demand?
