Labour Force June 2015
WE SAW a lift in the unemployment rate and fewer employed in June, according to the latest ABS job numbers. The figures (trend) showed:
From May to June this year we saw an increase in the unemployment rate, rising from 6.8%-6.9%.
The participation rate for June remained the same as May, sitting at 60.7%.
Number of Tasmanians employed
The number of fulltime workers in our state was down from 153,400 to 153,000 from May to June, while the number of Tasmanians in work stayed the same: 238,900.
Number of unemployed Tasmanians
In June we saw a lift in the number of Tasmanians who were unemployed, rising from 17,500 to 17,600.
Tasmania’s population grew by 100 during this time, increasing from 422,100 in May to 422,200 in June.
Nationally the unemployment rate was also up from May to June to 6%, an increase of 0.1%.
