Public housing waitlists
THE MOST in need have to wait longer for a home in our state. That’s according to the Department of Health and Human Services Progress chart June 2015.
The report shows that the average waiting time for category one housing in Tasmania is now 22 weeks, which is the longest wait in at least four years.
These are people who the Department says have an “exceptional” need for a place to live.
Budget cuts are hurting these Tasmanians and many more. Meanwhile, something’s not adding up, when you look at Child Protection figures in the same report for June 2015. While notifications remain steady, the number of notifications that are referred for investigation has dropped.
