Burnie hospital: Member action sees privatisation ruled out
ACTION from people in the North-West Regional Hospital for jobs in several essential areas has meant privatisation is now off the table.
Public Sector Union Organiser Nick Duncombe said this was a “great win for not only these employees but for Tasmanians living in the North-West”.
“These Members took a stand to ensure our hospital stays in public hands.”
Now these staff have more secure jobs and the community can keep these hospital services that it relies on.
Privatisation is about the government washing its hands of important services like these. As a union we must stand up and ensure public services remain in public hands.
