Delegate Training – sign up today
THE TASMANIAN public sector is a strong union workplace. Our union gives us a strong voice in every corner of our public sector. We want better lives, better workplaces and better services for our state. As Delegates you’re a key part of all of this.
This year’s bargaining is our chance to secure the resources, expertise and voice you need to build our public sector for all Tasmanians.
In the coming months our Trainer Ange is delivering training sessions to give leaders like you the support you need for your union role in the workplace and to build Member strength and their collective voice in the workplace and across our vital services.
Training gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence you need for your role as a leader in the workplace. With these you can build stronger workplaces where members increase their influence and power through working together.
We’re also building a strong network of Delegates from every corner of the public sector that can band together and help each other. Training is a chance for you to collaborate with CPSU leaders in other agencies around common issues.
At our November Proud to be Public event we heard from you that helping Members to have a voice through consultation was a key issue and an area you’d like help in. We’ve listened and are offering training to help you build the skills and knowledge you need to win and build membership in your workplace.
Here’s some feedback from Delegates who attended the last Proud to be Public event:
“I enjoyed hearing from Delegates from other departments and the issues they have (some are common) some are unique and how the Government has been dealing with these issues.”
“I enjoyed brainstorming ideas about issues we’re facing in the public sector and hearing from other union Delegates.”
“It was great when we were given the chance to share ideas about how to improve the situation of our members and how to generate public understanding and support of the public sector and the work we do.”
Delegate Introduction training
Are you a new Delegate or you’ve never taken part in our training before? Do our introductory training and upskill and build your confidence around your role and rights. You’ll learn what you can do and what you can’t in your role as a leader in your workplace and how you can help your colleagues and ultimately make your workplace a better one.
Thursday March 10: CPSU Office, Hobart
Wednesday March 16: Regional (location depending on expressions of interest)
Tuesday September 13: CPSU Office Hobart
We’ve seen so much change in the public sector over the past few years, and we need to make sure the people who know our services best (that’s you) are heard.
You’re the experts in your fields, so you know what decent services mean and what resources you need to deliver these. You know what works and what doesn’t – consultation is a chance to put forward your ideas and share your knowledge about what a proposed change would mean, whether it’s through your Joint Consultative Committee or on more specific changes like restructures. It’s also your right under the Award.
Working together with your Members on issues like this helps make our union stronger in your workplace. It also means increased transparency and better decisions for staff and Tasmanians who rely on the services we provide.

Proud to be Public training events
We’re setting up bargaining reference groups for different regions, occupational groups and similar agencies, so we’ve grouped our Proud to be Public events accordingly.
Come along join other workplace leaders so together we can grow and strengthen Members’ influence in your corner of the public sector and so you can build networks with other Delegates.
These events will review the results from our initial survey and hear what your colleagues find important. These events are a chance for you to get involved in the development of the final log of claims for endorsement at member meetings.
Wednesday April 13: North-North West
Monday April 18: Health and Education (including Allied Health) – CPSU Hobart Office
Wednesday April 20: Rest of the public sector – CPSU Hobart Office
