Will, Have a Heart this Budget

CHILD Safety Officers gathered on Parliament Lawns on Wednesday to urge Premier Will Hodgman to #HaveAHeart and fund the Child Safety Service properly in next week’s state budget so vulnerable Tasmanian children get the care and support they need and deserve.

31% of Child Safety Officers have responsibility for more children than is safe and manageable.

At the Parliament Lawns event CSOs called for an additional 20 fte workers within the frontline service and 320 hearts were planted represent each child is on top of CSO’s manageable caseloads.

To meet this rising demand 20 FTE CHild Safety Officers are needed today.

CSS protects vulnerable children and their families – it’s one of the most important responsibilities of our public sector yet it’s been underfunded and understaffed for far too long.
