CPSU Members running on March 3: Danielle Kidd

As part of our ethos of members supporting members we recently called for all CPSU members standing for election, regardless of party, to provide us with a profile so we could share it with other members.

Danielle Kidd

Electorate: Braddon

My name is Danielle Kidd and I would like to introduce myself to CPSU members as an endorsed candidate for the Labor Party in Braddon for the State Election on March 3.

The North West Coast needs strong and experienced voices to fight for our region and our workers. That’s why I have put my hand up to represent the people of Braddon.

As well as my love for our beautiful region, I have always had a strong interest in social justice, policy and politics.

I was born and raised in Burnie and have worked in Labor offices in Tasmania and as a public servant in Victoria for most of my career. Through my role as the manager responsible for Cabinet, Executive Council and Parliamentary and Legislative support for the Victorian Government, I have significant experience in the operation of government and parliament. I am a graduate of the Tasmanian Leaders Program and hold a postgraduate degree in Public Policy.

As the General Manager of the University’s Cradle Coast campus in Burnie, I have advocated for our region in many forums and been a mentor to a number of young people as they navigate their way through school and into work.

I will use my experience plus my commitment and energy to fight on the issues that matter to the people of Braddon and to the labour movement.

The key areas that I would like to champion if elected include youth advocacy, education and training pathways for young people and adults looking to retrain, jobs growth and job security, improving support services for the more isolated areas of Braddon and improving health services.

I would welcome the opportunity to chat with CPSU members to hear more about the issues that concern you and the actions we can take in the campaign and in government to effect real change to benefit our community.

A Majority Labor Government, led by Rebecca White and with strong local representation, is the way forward for our region. I am running a strong grassroots campaign aiming to talk and listen to as many people from our community as possible. Any assistance, especially on the ground with volunteer support, would be greatly appreciated.
