Greens announce $40m PWS funding
LAST week the Tasmanian Greens announced that they wanted to see $40m invested into parks and wilderness areas over the next four years.
This money would be for Rangers, Field Officers, the Threatened Species unit and much needed infrastructure. (The Examiner, Thursday Feb 1, page 6)
We know that our state spends half the national average per hectare to manage, maintain and protect our National Parks and World Heritage sites – they are overloved and underfunded.
Our Parks Rangers and Field Officers are stretched, especially during the busy fire season. More resources are needed.
