Liberals to spend $757m on health
On the weekend the Tasmanian Liberal’s promised to spend $757m to employ 1332 more health workers, including 800 nurses and 158 doctors.
In The Mercury on Tuesday independent health policy analyst Martyn Goddard said that this headline figure was probably inflated by including Commonwealth funding as its own, without acknowledging this. Mr Goddard said that the Liberal’s policy was almost entirely focused on Hobart.
Over the last few years there’s hardly been a week that’s gone by without a media story on our health system woes. We know that public sector workers in health, including services like Pathology, Pharmacy and Admissions are vital to getting Tasmanians back on their feet and ensuring they receive proper care.
