Biosecurity, DPIPWE respond to marine threat
Biosecurity Tasmania and DPIPWE workers protect our unique environment and industries. They work to stamp out threats, like the soft-shelled clam found at Orford recently that’s a threat to native marine species.
Soft-shell clams, or Mya japonica, are native to the Northern Hemisphere, and this is the first detection of soft-shell clam in the Southern Hemisphere.
Working to respond to threats like this is another way public sector workers keep Tasmania special.
