Family Violence Counselling & Support Service underfunded – sign and share the petition!

Living free from violence is everybody’s right. As a society we have a responsibility to make sure victims of family violence get the support they need.

But right now, Tasmanian women and children can’t get the help they need.
The Family Violence Counselling and Support Service provide help and support so Tasmanians can leave violent relationships and rebuild their lives.

These workers:
• Provide information, counselling and support;
• Arrange help from police and safe places to stay and referrals to Legal Aid, Court Support and other services;
• Run programs for affected adults, children and young people; and
• Advocate so family violence victims can access housing, Centrelink and other help

Demand is increasing; last year alone FVCSS workers saw an influx of more than 6100 referrals, with police reporting a 15% increase in reports of Family Violence in the last three years.

But the Hodgman Government has chosen to underfund this service. There aren’t enough staff or resources to get Tasmanians the help they need.

CLICK TO SIGN THE PETITION. Please sign and share this petition far and wide – tell the Hodgman Government, and victims of family violence you care.
