International Workers’ Memorial Day: Ecumenical Service
International Workers’ Memorial Day takes place annually around the world on April 28, an international day of remembrance for workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell through their work.
This year there will be an Ecumenical Service to mark the event.
Workers’ Memorial Day was started by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) in 1984. April 28 is recognised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) as International Workers’ Memorial Day.
In 2014/15, there have been 11 work related deaths in Tasmania.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event.
