This week we have again heard publicly some horrific stories of sexual assault and harassment in the halls of our democracy and courts.
For every woman who shares their story publicly we know that there are dozens more who suffer abuse and harassment in silence.
We know that one of the challenges in the world of politics and within the legal fraternity is the unequal power dynamic between many women and the men they work with and that often the point of contacts for reporting such behaviour are not safe or calls for support go unanswered
Every woman should be safe at work, right now many of us are not.
Sexual harassment in the workplace is unlawful and is a workplace safety issue.
If you need support, have been subjected to or witnessed sexual assault or harassment in your workplace, the CPSU is here for you.
No steps will be taken without your consent. We are here to support and stand with you; to provide guidance and information; and when requested, to act.
To all women in our parliaments, in legal practice, or in any workplace: unions will always be a place of support and safety if you have experienced or witnessed sexual harassment or sexual assault.
