Respect the Risk: Prison Officers Conference in lutruwita last week

The 46th Annual Prison Officers’ Association of Australasia Conference was on at Unions Tasmania last week.
It was great to have CPSU Delegates taking part, representing Tasmanian Correctional Officers.

From across Australia and New Zealand, these workers keep out communities safe, but their workplaces are often anything but safe. In Tasmania, retention and safe staffing levels are an ongoing issue across the state.

CPSU Organising Delegate Allen Stennings jointly delivered the Tasmanian report to the conference.

The Rockliff Government and Minister Madeleine Ogilvie need to #RespectTheRisk and ensure Tasmanian prisons are safe.

The Community & Public Sector Union is the union for Correctional Officers nationwide, with more than 13,000 Officers strong, united, and growing every day.
